Could you explain the differences between the 2 tracks that you propose for the MSc Financial Markets and Technologies ?
Our MSc curriculum has two backbones. The first one is cutting-edge training in financial risk management. In particular, the program prepares students to successfully pass the Financial Risk Management Certificate (GARP). The second backbone is a breakthrough in the exciting and challenging universe of new technologies and their applications in the financial industry. Students will develop expertise in Big Data, Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, Machine Learning, among others.
In both tracks there is an internship, is NEOMA helping the students to find one ?
Depending on their academic background, students can choose between our 18-month track and 12-month track. Students who do not have a strong background in finance and quantitative fields will benefit more from the first track, which starts from January and covers the primary curriculum of FRM Level 1 and introductory technical topics. Students who are relatively well prepared can start directly from the second track, which starts from September and covers the primary curriculum of FRM Level 2 and advanced technical topics.
Are you in partnership with the GARP ?
Our MSc also provides various supports to the students in both tracks. First, the Talent and Career program at NEOMA will help the students find internships with workshops, consultancies, and connections to the alumni network. Second, students can benefit from our partnership with the GARP institute for scholarships and other academic opportunities. Third, the Library at NEOMA also organizes workshops for utilizing the databases and other essential resources for their studies.
For which level do you prepare the students for the FRM ?
Graduates from our MSc open themselves with enormous opportunities in both the finance industry and the real sector. On the one hand, the covid pandemic and the ever-increasing global uncertainty have highlighted the importance of understanding and managing uncertainty and risk in all business sectors. Specifically, FRM holders constitute a worldwide network of professionals in major banks and companies. Global banks are major recruiters of FRM holders (see below). On the other hand, the rapid development of new technologies including fintech has also created a broad spectrum of opportunities. Established industrial companies and financial institutions are striving to gain competitive advantages with these new technologies, but many new innovating companies can also emerge because of the new technologies. Taken together, sound risk management awareness and skills and efficient masteries of new technologies will be in high demand in the future.
