Daily Challenges for a business manager in a bank
-
Could you describe you in a few words?
Many thanks for giving me the opportunity to introduce the institutional business at Quintet.
My name is Esther; I work in the financial industry in Luxembourg for more than 30 years. Before joining Quintet’s Financial Intermediaries & Asset Servicing Department during the pandemic in September 2021 I hold different roles in banking and in a foundation.

Could you describe the work in your department?
The team offers services to professional clients. While the Financial Intermediaries team is in charge of External Asset Managers and Multi Family Offices and their end clients, the Asset Servicing teams focuses on Funds, Insurers, Banks and Private Label Solutions. Our service offering has several key components such as custody and safekeeping, global markets execution services, lending facilities and as well digital solutions. To deliver high quality services to our clients we are supported by experts across the bank located in different countries.
-
What aspects of your job are you passionate about?
For me it is very exciting, that every day is different with new challenges and opportunities. Hardly a day you can’t learn anything new. The close collaboration and interaction with many people from different departments and locations is really fun and inspires me.
-
What is your main challenge as a head of business management FIM&AS in a bank?
One of the biggest challenges, and this is similar in all Business Management roles, is to keep track of all activities and projects on the table along with the deadlines. Setting the right priorities and finding a good way in between client needs, bank’s targets, regulatory and management requirements and to balance between strategic projects and day-to-day business needs.

Why Quintet could be attractive for new candidates?
Quintet offers an interesting, challenging environment in the financial industry not only focusing on Wealth Management but as well on the business with institutional clients. The bank is big enough to provide a huge variety of business activities and job profiles but small enough to still have a personal touch. Our workforce is quite international across the different locations. My team is a good example with 4 different nationalities out of 5 people. As we are partially organized along the functions and not only the locations there are many opportunities to work together and meet with colleagues from other Quintet entities.
Finally and one of the most important arguments to apply @Quintet is the great team !
